Johann Joseph Fux
Johann Joseph Fux lived from 1660 to 1741. He was famous for two things, his music and his textbook Gradus ad Parnassum. Both are remembered very well. In 1701 Fux became Capellmeister at St. Stephen's Cathedral. His most famous stage work was the festival opera Costanza e Forteeze peformed in Prague Castle 1723 when Emperor Charles was crowned king. In 1725 Fux published his Gradus ad Parnassum which most of the composers of the next generation had- even Bach had a copy in his library. I like the video that I embedded because I think that the song is pretty relaxing.

Hildegard von Bingen and Michael Praetorius
Hildegard von Bingen and Michael Praetorius are both beautiful songs, but very much different. Hildegard von Bingen is all singing and has no instruments, unlike Michael Praetorius' song that is all instruments. Hildegard was one of the few women of her time to write music. She lived from (1098-1179). Michael Praetorius lived from (1571 - 1621). He was a German composer, organist, and music writer.

I think that it is amazing how she can play music without hearing it. I think that the way that she plays is really cool, how she feels the vibrations with her feet. I also think that she is very intelligent for being deaf since she was 12. My reaction to her talk on listening was pretty amazing. I also think it was pretty cool how she changed the rule to the school that she wanted to go to, how now they can now let anyone with a problem not be able to enter the school.

Songs
song one: Whats going on 1971
The song in the begging sounded a little jazz but with soul mixed in with it. The song has many voice layers in it. The sound is very relaxing, but up beat. The instruments that were in it was maybe some drums, bass and some more. I also think that there are a lot of instruments layering.
song two: 1985 Paul Simon
There are many layers in the voice in this song. This song kind of sounded like something that you would listen to at the beach. The instruments that i heard in it was drums (don't know what kind), maracas, trumpets and others. I really like this song because I like how in the begging in the song its like just voices and so the instruments don't take up most of the song.
song three: 1994 Live
genre i think that it is rock. The instruments that i think that are in this song is drums, guitar (maybe electric) and bass. There are some layers in the instruments. I don't think that this song is very up lifting as the other two songs. There is also not as much layers in voices as there was in the other two songs. The ending in this song was not singing or anything it was just instruments and then some people started talking. I liked the song, but i think that they shouldnt have made the ending so long.
