Johann Joseph Fux
Johann Joseph Fux lived from 1660 to 1741. He was famous for two things, his music and his textbook Gradus ad Parnassum. Both are remembered very well. In 1701 Fux became Capellmeister at St. Stephen's Cathedral. His most famous stage work was the festival opera Costanza e Forteeze peformed in Prague Castle 1723 when Emperor Charles was crowned king. In 1725 Fux published his Gradus ad Parnassum which most of the composers of the next generation had- even Bach had a copy in his library. I like the video that I embedded because I think that the song is pretty relaxing.
