Johann Joseph Fux
Johann Joseph Fux lived from 1660 to 1741. He was famous for two things, his music and his textbook Gradus ad Parnassum. Both are remembered very well. In 1701 Fux became Capellmeister at St. Stephen's Cathedral. His most famous stage work was the festival opera Costanza e Forteeze peformed in Prague Castle 1723 when Emperor Charles was crowned king. In 1725 Fux published his Gradus ad Parnassum which most of the composers of the next generation had- even Bach had a copy in his library. I like the video that I embedded because I think that the song is pretty relaxing.

Hildegard von Bingen and Michael Praetorius
Hildegard von Bingen and Michael Praetorius are both beautiful songs, but very much different. Hildegard von Bingen is all singing and has no instruments, unlike Michael Praetorius' song that is all instruments. Hildegard was one of the few women of her time to write music. She lived from (1098-1179). Michael Praetorius lived from (1571 - 1621). He was a German composer, organist, and music writer.

I think that it is amazing how she can play music without hearing it. I think that the way that she plays is really cool, how she feels the vibrations with her feet. I also think that she is very intelligent for being deaf since she was 12. My reaction to her talk on listening was pretty amazing. I also think it was pretty cool how she changed the rule to the school that she wanted to go to, how now they can now let anyone with a problem not be able to enter the school.

Songs
song one: Whats going on 1971
The song in the begging sounded a little jazz but with soul mixed in with it. The song has many voice layers in it. The sound is very relaxing, but up beat. The instruments that were in it was maybe some drums, bass and some more. I also think that there are a lot of instruments layering.
song two: 1985 Paul Simon
There are many layers in the voice in this song. This song kind of sounded like something that you would listen to at the beach. The instruments that i heard in it was drums (don't know what kind), maracas, trumpets and others. I really like this song because I like how in the begging in the song its like just voices and so the instruments don't take up most of the song.
song three: 1994 Live
genre i think that it is rock. The instruments that i think that are in this song is drums, guitar (maybe electric) and bass. There are some layers in the instruments. I don't think that this song is very up lifting as the other two songs. There is also not as much layers in voices as there was in the other two songs. The ending in this song was not singing or anything it was just instruments and then some people started talking. I liked the song, but i think that they shouldnt have made the ending so long.

Compairing songs
The first song sounded kind of rock but with some techno in it. I think that the song was made in the 80's. I feel like there was a lot of layers in it. The mood of the song is creepy kind of and mad, or depressed. I think that the instruments that were used was some drums and some techno stuff. I think that the drums stay at a constant beat most of the time. The second song that we listen to I thought again was rock with a little techno thrown into it. I think that the song might of been made in the early 90's. The mood of this song is a little more up beat then the other song, but i still think that this song is creepy. This song like the other one I think has many layers. Both of the songs uses about the same insturments and tune, but i think that their voices are different. Also I think that the bass is more strong in this song. The second song doesnt sound as techno as the first one, and its more uplifting.
The 3rd song we listen to I thought sounded a little more hard core rock. I feel like the mood of this song is very dark and depressing. I feel like this song cam out in maybe 2007. I think that there are many layers in this song. I feel like in the this song the drums kind of stayed the same. The second song I thought was kind of the same as the first song, but i feel like its not as depressing. I feel like this song came out in 2009. Near the end of the song you could hear many layers from alot of people singing to the instruments. This song is a little more up beat then the last one. Both of the singers sound just a like.

TIME MACHINE
One day Bob and Sally found a time machine and thought to themselves hmm lets try it, so they went to a Jazz festival. But the music want just regular jazz it sounded kind of sounded like Mexican music at times. They were having a dancing contest for anyone to join, so Bob and Sally joined. The song that they had to dance to was about 4 minutes and you couldn't stop the whole time. The song went to a kind of fast beat to a slow one. Bob and Sally thought they didn't look as good as the other dancers so they went to this boutique and bought some outfits with some sparkles on it. Then the contest started and Sally and Bob were the last ones to go. They were really nerviest because they thought that the other contestants were really good, but finally it was Bob and Sally's turn and they blew the competition. The they left the festival and went to back into the time machine and went four hours into the past, so that they could win some awesome tickets to this band. They got the tickets and the concert was in 30 minutes so they got back in the time machine and traveled about 20 minutes into the future so they could get to the concert pretty early. The concert started and it was in a club, there was about 1,000 people inside and more waiting outside to try and come in. Everyone in the crowd was wearing a shirt with the bands name on it. The music was pretty hard core or something like that. Near the end of the concert the singer jumped into the crowed and started crowd surfing until the club caught on fire. They all ran out of the building, and Sally and Bob went back into their time machine and left. They didn't know what to do so they went back in time to Montana at the 2007 barn dance. The music was kind of blue grass music. Sally and Bob asked everyone if they wanted to square dance, and everyone screamed YEAH! So they all started to dance, but when Bob lifted up someone he dropped them. But the good thing was the girl just started laughing and got right back up and started dancing again. After they danced they were really hungry so they ate fried chicken and drank root beer. After they ate the barn dance was over so they got back in their handy dandy time machine. So then Sally knew where she wanted to go, she wanted to go back in time when she was about 10, when she was in 5th grade. Her teacher asked Sally a question that she didn't know. She felt so stupid because everyone was just staring at her and laughing because the question was easy.. But the only person that didn't laugh was Bob, that is how Bob and Sally became friends. Because when everyone laughed at her he was mature and friendly and didn't. After Sally saw how bad that day was she wanted to leave really fast. So her and Bob got in the time machine and left to the future. They went to this really cool jazz club. The club was more of a cafe looking thing, that served anything that you wanted there (drink and food wise). While the music was playing you could have done many things. You could have danced to it, play games or read a poem. Bob wanted to read a poem really bad, because that is was Bob enjoyed to do. Whenever he is sad or mad he just writes a poem. He was really scared to read it, but had the nerves to do it anyways. At the end of his poem everyone loved it and asked for him to do it again. Then Sally and Bob got another great idea. They decided to sing to the music. So they made a song. They didn't know what to sing so they decided that they are just going to go up there and start singing random stuff. Sally sang random words in the first verse then made a chorus. Then Bob would take over. Everyone loved it so much that they wanted them to sing it again. But they couldn't because they didn't remember the words that they used, but good enough someone recorded the new jazz song and played it for the club. Everyone thought that the song could become a great hit, so Bob and Sally took the c.d to some record producers. The recorded producers love the song and decided that they would play it on the radio, and they would become famous. So they went into their time machine and went to the present, so that they could see how their lives changed in the future. They had a huge house with a pool in the back and robots help them with everything they needed. They thought that they loved their lives, until they couldn't go out side because everyone wanted a picture of them, the people just wouldn't leave them alone. They also lost their family, because they didn't pay any attention to them, while their big career was taking off. They decided that they didn't like this new life. So they got back into their handy dandy time machine and went back into time, to start this whole day over again, so that none of this would happen. Though they thought that this day was fun they both decided that doing all that stuff changed their lives, and they love their lives just the was it is.

Shania Twain "Any man of mine"
Though I don't know what my favorite song is I really like this song "Any man of mine". I heard this song when I was really little. This song mean a lot to me because it was me and my moms favorite song when i was growing up. Everyday me and my mom would listen to her in the car going to school. I like this song so much because it brings back really good memories from when me and my friends would dance to it. I like how the music is really upbeat and fun. I think she did a really good job singing this song.
